We’re coming to America again in a week. This is a good thing. London is full of children with ice cream cones and flies and ice cream cones full of flies.
We’re going to play the best shows we’ve ever played and if we don’t you can have sex with a band member of your choice for free. Before you make your decision keep in mind our new temporary drummer is a FOX.
WHAT IS GOING ON?
Well, many things. Singer/songwriter Finn Andrews is singing and songwriting at an alarming rate. That’s me by the way. Cheese. I’ve been listening to The Bats and getting excited about how Connan Mockasin and James Duncan’s albums are coming out soon. Warm my winter they shall.
We’re now mere weeks away from announcing a tour of New Zealand & Australia for later in the year. This is something unfathomable at this point as we’ve 3,794,066 square miles of continent to scour before then, but fathom it we shall, with your help.

Also, a new California show has been announced, which will take place at the Detroit Bar, Costa Mesa, on July 14th.

We are all very saddened to reveal, as of the end of our current European tour, Henning will be leaving The Veils. As some of you may know, Henning had a baby girl earlier this year and following much pondering on his part he has decided a life almost entirely on the road with us won’t allow him sufficient time to be with his daughter. Fair enough really.

During The Veils’ recent dutch tour, Finn Andrews received an electric harp-guitar known as the Burner Guitar built by dutch instrument inventor, musician, musicologist and comic book creator Yuri Landman.

After being tipped by Liam Finn, Finn Andrews mailed me he had the desire to play on a copy of the Moonlander. Unfortunatelly Lee Ranaldo’s instrument is too much work to replicate easily, but I also had the wish for some time to make a new somewhat modified and easier to manifacture electric harp guitar. So I developed for Finn the Burner Guitar; an extended version of the Twister Guitar, with an additional upper body horn a bit resembling like the old Prince guitar, where I could put in the tuning pegs. The instrument is in looks somewhat similar to the famous Coral Sitar. Very pleased with the result. As can be imagined easily, a bit confused about the large amount of strings, but I’m sure he’ll get used to it within a few days and create a good atmospheric sound with it.

Yuri Landman previously built instruments for Sonic Youth, Blood Red Shoes, Liam Finn and dEUS. The Burner Guitar was handed to Finn before the Nijmegen show on May 10th.

A new 2meter session by The Veils will be broadcasted by dutch radiostation Kink FM this Thursday May 21st between 22:00 and 24:00 PM.

Finn previously appeared on the show in 2004, which marked the only the time the unreleased track ‘H.O.L.L.A.N.D.’ was played.
